Kevin Kolb gets new helmet, not worried about more concussions
Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb was lost for the season with a concussion on December 11, and he said he was still feeling symptoms more than a month later. But that doesn’t have Kolb worried about concussions going forward.
Kolb told the team’s website that he will wear a different helmet this season that he thinks will give him more protection because it has more padding in the back of the head, where “most of the concussions come from.” Other than changing helmets, Kolb says he hasn’t spent much time this year thinking about concussions.
“I don’t worry about them,” Kolb said. “It was a freak deal. They don’t happen all the time.”
It’s true that concussions don’t happen all the time, but they have happened more often than Kolb would like: He also missed time with a concussion in 2010, when he played for the Eagles. But Kolb said he expects to be healthy in 2012.
“If something comes up I’ll worry about it then,” Kolb said. “Right now, my head is clear and I know I will be in the league a long time.” (source Pro Football Talk)
