Jerry Jones and Commish not worried about the weather - Ingles

Countdown to SB XLV Kickoff
Friday, February 04 2011

As Dallas-Fort Worth braces itself for potential snow on Friday, the short and long term effects of this week's weather once again became the top story as Super Bowl Sunday approaches. This article was written by Erin Connor and appeared in the Dallas Morning News.

After a press conference announcing a $2 million donation by the NFL and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to build a Youth Education Town in Arlington, both Jones and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell were inundated with questions about the ice storm still afflicting North Texas.

When asked whether or not the winter weather that crippled much of the area would affect future chances at hosting a Super Bowl, Goodell said: "I don't believe so. This isn't the only part of the country being affecting by this weather. This community has responded favorably and we're excited to be here."

Jones said he's pleased with the response to make the roads around the stadium and in Arlington safer: "'I've seen a lot of salt, lot of sand out there."

But when asked whether or not he's worried about forecasts saying temperatures won't reach the 50s like projected earlier, Jones refused to acknowledge the possibility. "I'm excited that it's supposed to warm up before Sunday," he said. "We're getting a huge number of fans out to the stadium for the game. I'm glad it's going to be twice as warm then as it is now."

Currently, the National Weather Service is forecasting less than an inch of snow for much of the Dallas-Fort Worth area Thursday night into Friday. Temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 20s, and in the upper 40s Saturday and Sunday.
