Raiders draft plan to land Jets exec

One of the key members of the Jets' front office may be moving on. The Raiders have expressed interest in hiring Jets vice president of college scouting Joey Clinkscales, according to sources. He would be reunited with new Oakland general manager — and former University of Tennessee teammate — Reggie McKenzie. It is unclear what Clinkscales' exact role for the Raiders would be if they hired him.

"The most important thing for us right now is the 2012 draft and that's our focus," Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said in a statement issued by the team Clinkscales, who has held his current position with Gang Green for four years, interviewed for the Rams' GM job earlier this offseason. Clinkscales was part of the brain trust that pulled off the trade to move up in 2009 to draft Mark Sanchez.

He was also one of the decision-makers when the Jets drafted Vernon Gholston with the sixth pick of the draft one year earlier.

BRUNELL: I'M NOT DONE
Mark Brunell isn't ready to walk away from the NFL just yet. On Monday, the Florida Times-Union reported that the free-agent quarterback, Mark Sanchez's backup with the Jets the past two years, was ready to retire after 19 seasons in the league. But Brunell told the Daily News on Tuesday that he still would welcome the chance to play. "If an opportunity came along, I would certainly consider it," Brunell said. "I definitely would like to (play) another season. No plans to retire yet."

Brunell, 41, was drafted by the Packers in 1993 before thriving with the Jaguars from 1995-2003. He also played for the Redskins and Saints, getting a Super Bowl ring in New Orleans. Although Brunell won't be back with the Jets, he believes that his former team can excel with Sanchez and Tim Tebow.

"Tim and Mark are going to work well together," Brunell told the Times-Union. "I think they complement each other very well. Tim is going to be a great teammate. You can't have enough Tim Tebows on your roster."
