StarStreet Launches Real Money NFL Stock Market - Ingles
StarStreet (www.starstreet.com), a sports stock market where fans invest in pro athletes, today announced the launch of the first-ever real money NFL stock market. The market enables sports fans to “put their money where their mouth is,” giving them an opportunity to buy and sell shares of their favorite NFL players.
StarStreet’s NFL market offers fans an opportunity to own virtual shares of players and make profit based on the player’s performance, as well as the investor’s skill in trading. Players are valued based on their statistical performance. Their share value rises and falls in conjunction with their on-field performance. At the end of the season, every dollar that has been invested in the market by the traders is paid out to the shareholders.
StarStreet’s trading platform is a bid/ask platform where traders can buy and sell players at any time (24/7/365). Traders can either match offers from other traders or name their own price, hoping to get another investor to match their offer. New shares are introduced to the market throughout the season through Initial Player Offerings (“IPOs”).
StarStreet has had more than 500 active, real money traders participating in its beta, and is now launching its first real money NFL market. “We have been in beta for the past year, perfecting the trading experience and are now thrilled to launch our NFL market” said StarStreet founder Jeremy Levine. “Our vision is huge, as we believe we are building a game that will be more fun that the typical fantasy games.
”Since launching in 2010, StarStreet completed the TechStars “seed accelerator” program, raised capital from investors including Ron Conway’s SV Angel and launched real money NBA and MLB markets. With the NFL launch, StarStreet has taken the platform to the next level.
